March 3, 2021 is World Hearing Day! Did you know according to the World Health Organization that hearing loss poses an annual global cost of US $750 billion? Other than barriers to communication, hearing loss can cause negative feelings such as loneliness and frustration.
Exposure to noisy environments is inevitable when it comes to aircraft maintenance, it is CASL’s practice to provide free earplugs to all staff who works at the apron to prevent hearing loss or occupational deafness from noise sources such as running aircraft engines.
WHO’s theme of World Hearing Day 2021 is “hearing care for all”. CASL will continue to take effective measures to protect their hearing and remind staff to prevent ear diseases. Don’t forget to bring your earplugs when you go plane-spotting next time at the airport!
