Duty Manager

Main Duties

    • Champion Safe and compliant work practices for themselves and their shift. Encourage and support incident reporting, near-miss reporting and reporting opportunities for improvement using the company reporting platform (SERA)
    • Ensure that MOE, EPM, and company policies and procedures are strictly followed by personal example and verification of standards. This will require a physical audit of at least one transit/stayover every shift and a weekly documented ‘management safety walk’
    • Formal communication with the Duty Manager on the opposite shift, including creating and acknowledging handover in accordance with company procedures
    • Ensure the efficient management and organisation of resource allocation and disposition during allocated shifts
    • Strict adherence to CASL fatigue management requirements. Where operational requirements dictate extended shifts, ensure that fatigue limitations are not exceeded and that fatigue reports are completed as required, including, where appropriate, escalation to the Senior Manager, Line Operations 
    • Management of overtime on their shift. Authorise overtime only within the scope of authority. All shift extensions must include a full justification
    • Assess the safety of all operating areas, including offices, stores, workshops, and the operational regions inside locations and aircraft; take proactive control and advise the SMLO if any issues are raised and cannot be rectified
    • Actively support Safety and Quality assurance staff assigned to monitor Line operations and any in-house, customer or Regulatory audits
    • Coordinate aircraft AOG events and ensure clear, concise, and regular communication with the Customer and other stakeholders, including regular updates on work progress and serviceability estimates. Ensure SMLO and other CASL management are kept informed of AOG's progress
    • Ensure clear and concise reporting to customers for all aspects that affect the service and schedule of their aircraft. This reporting must extend to acknowledging service requests promptly and then reporting back on the completion of those service requests
    • Develop a professional working relationship with all company employees, client representatives and other business associates
    • In conjunction with the planning department, the day shift Duty Manager must attend and chair the daily meeting each day for the day shift and ensure that CASL commitments to customers are clearly communicated to the customer during the formal shift handover, both written and verbal
    • Work with LM roster planning staff to ensure appropriate skills are available to match the operational requirements
    • The night shift Duty Manager must immediately review the handover and highlight any task that cannot be completed during the shift. This will require coordination with the customer and CASL planning
    • Coordinate activities with CASL Minor Maintenance section and Base Maintenance Department through Planning and Technical Services
    • Investigate and report promptly on delays, service performance, safety, and compliance concerns, share lessons learned, and develop solutions for future prevention
    • Prepare necessary improvement plans, plan and execute initiatives, and coordinate efficient monthly/quarterly team member work schedules

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or above in Engineering related discipline
  • At least 10 years’ experience in aircraft line maintenance in which 3 years’ in management level
  • Holder of HKAR66 license is an advantage, but not a must; and other aircraft maintenance license will also be considered
  • Valid HK Driving License 1 and 2
  • Good written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical mind with sound organization and presentation skills
  • Pro-active and positive attitude
