1995   January
A 3-party joint venture was established by China National Aviation Corporation (Group) Limited (CNAC), British Airways (BA) and Hutchison Whampoa (China) Limited (HWCL)on 17th January 1995 with CNAC holding 40% share and BA and HWCL each holding 30% share.

June
Addition of United Airlines, Inc. (UA) to the joint venture on 30th June 1995 with shareholding in CASL changed to 40% by CNAC, 20% each by BA, HWCL and UA.

1996   October
CASL was awarded one of the franchises to operate aircraft line maintenance at the Hong Kong International Airport by the Airport Authority on 10th October 1996.

1998   July
Commenced business on 6th July 1998 under the regulatory approvals from HKAR145, CCAR145 and JAR145.

With the opening of Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok on 6th July 1998, Air China, British Airways, British Asia Airways, China Eastern Airlines, China Northern Airlines, China Northwest Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Southwest Airlines, Japan Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and Xiamen Airlines, became CASL's business partners.

1999   January
Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre became CASL's customer.

February
Signed up ground support service contract with Hong Kong Government Flying Services.

April
CASL Staff Recreation Committee was established to organize recreational functions for CASL employees.

December
Hong Kong Dragon Airlines became CASL's customer.

2000   April
Obtained the regulatory approval from FAR145.

May
CASL was granted a patent by Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the design of Refuse Vehicle with Mobile Refuse Chute on 15th May 2000.

November
Angel Air and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines became CASL's customers.

2001   January
Lufthansa German Airlines became CASL's customer.

June
Obtained Korea Civil Aviation Bureau (KCAB) Repair Station Approval.

July
Asiana Airlines became CASL's customer.

2002   February
Orient Thai Airlines became CASL's customer.

July
Federal Express became CASL's customer.

November
China Aircraft Services Limited, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) and Guangzhou Civil Aviation College signed the Letter of Intent on 12th November to jointly organize a 3-year full-time high diploma course in Aircraft Maintenance in order to satisfy the long-term growing demand for aircraft maintenance support in Middle South China, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. The application for admission is tentatively planned to commence in Hong Kong in 2003 summer in accordance with the current admission procedure of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education.

CASL was presented the Safety Goal Award and the Occupational Safety Award by the Airport Authority Hong Kong for its success in attaining the set safety goals at airport and its active participation in occupational safety suggestion scheme in the 2002 Ramp Safety Campaign.

Besides, jointly with other Ramp Operating Franchisees, CASL has signed on the Safety Commitment initiated by the Airport Authority. Together with other Ramp Operating Franchisees, CASL is also committed to safety as a management responsibility and will strive to enhance safety standards.

2003   March
Obtained Repair Station Approval from Department of Transportation and Communications of the Republic of the Philippines.

July
British Airways (BA) retired  from the Board of CASL effective from 03 July and the new composition of CASL's shareholding is: China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC) - 53.33% shareholding, Hutchison Whampoa (China) Limited (HWCL) - 26.67% shareholding and United Airlines (UA) - 20% shareholding. 

October
Transaero Airlines became CASL's customer.


2004    

April
CASL became an associate member of the International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP).

 

June

Sky Eyes Airways became CASL's customer.

 

September

Orbit Express became CASL’s customer.

 

September

EASA-145 Approval obtained from European Aviation Safety Agency replacing of JAR-145. 

 

November

CASL and AAHK Signed the new Aircraft Line & Base Maintenance Franchise Agreement


CASL signed a new franchise agreement with the Airport Authority Hong Kong on September 28th 2006. CASL is granted the franchise for the provision of aircraft line and base maintenance services for 25 years from the expiry of the existing aircraft line maintenance services agreement in 2008. This allows CASL to provide base maintenance services in addition to line maintenance services.

CASL Commenced the construction of its Hangar at Hong Kong International Airport

 

On 7 December 2006, CASL celebrated the ground breaking of its hangar development at Hong Kong International Airport, representing an initial step of the Company towards providing one-stop aircraft maintenance services. The new hangar is scheduled for completion and service commencement in July 2008. After it is put into service, CASL will become the second aircraft maintenance company to provide base maintenance service in Hong Kong.
